France is the 3rd most influential actor in the world

Schools have a duty to support the development and structuring of the professional sector. France is thus the leading European producer of animated films.

In 2016, French animation studios announced full employment. Worldwide, there are thousands of vacancies to be filled each year.

A solid growth has been established for several years with the advent of digital technology and which continues to develop.

First year

It is the acquisition of the fundamentals essential to any development

Introduction to the artistic and technic stakes

When the alchemy between the arts and new technologies appears.

The academic arts provide structure, sharpen the eye and form a solid basis for progress and creativity.

2D animation gives the keys to movement and rhythm.

Understanding and acting to support the ecological transition of the professional sector

An introduction to 2D / 3D computer graphics tools is essential for future productions

English courses are essential for exploring animation beyond our borders.

Arts and Styles History build analytical thinking and nourish general culture.

Second year

Promote teamwork and carry out an animation project

Two major fields of study

- Art of 2D / 3D Animation

- Art of 3D imagery

There is a strong emphasis on the academic arts (drawing, anatomy, modelling, etc.) and general artistic culture.

Working in a team is both exciting and complicated.

On the one hand, the emerging emulation within the group makes everyone progress and one learns from one another. On the other hand, one has to learn how to channel everyone's energy, how to make compromises and accept that not everyone works in the same way. Working in a team is the absolute condition for entering the animation professions.

Third year

Each student validates his or her knowledge by making a short animation film

Production of an animated short film

Intense and structuring, the 3rd year reveals personalities and places each one face to face with the realities of the professional world.

Validating "digital director" 1st cycle implies a fair balance between the learning of 2D / 3D techniques and the study of the language inherent to this new art. Students refine their technique and, through practice, tackle the tricks of narration and filmmaking.

Students must complete an internship in a company during summer. It is essential to begin weaving their professional network. It also is an opportunity to grasp the workings of the business world and its challenges.

Fourth year

One year,
two specialities

The School's 2nd cycle enables the students to determinate their domain of expertise.

Even if versatility is an omnipresent objective within the curriculum, as it implies a global vision of filmmaking processes, allowing students to deepen their skills in specific areas is essential to prepare them for their professional integration in the best possible way.

These two specialities, which are deliberately open-ended, represent families of professions. Depending on their personality, students integrate the specialisation that best suits them.

# 1

The art of 2D / 3D animation

Animation is the study of movement. It requires a lot of practice as well as solid notions in anatomy and is based on observation. Movement is a universal language, a vector of emotions and intentions. Whatever the animation techniques, 2D or 3D, the animator carries out the direction (mise en scene) and manages the action rhythm and the scenography - spaces occupation

# 2

The art of 3D images

This involves creating 3D images, from their conception to their finalisation. There are many technical processes involved, and you need to master a wide range of tools in order to express your creativity.

The challenge is to master the technical tools so that you can then express your creative potential. Teamwork is essential, and adapting to production constraints is paramount.

Transversal works

Inter-sections teams conceive and make a short animated film .

Each student prepares his or her "demo tape": video presentation of the exercises carried out during the curriculum as well as personal projects - this presentation is made towards the end of the year before a jury of professionals.

Conception work on the future diploma films that students will make in 5th year.

Fifth year

Making the diploma film

A year dedicated to the making of a short film

For 10 months, students will manufacture what will be the best passport to enter the professional world: the diploma film.

This wonderful cinematographic journey, whether in 2D or 3D, is human, ambitious and full of varied experiences, plunging viewers into emotionally rich worlds.

The technical execution must be irreproachable and the aesthetic homogeneity must be global.

It is the quest for the perfect match between the narrative challenge and the graphic universe.

The last stretch before professional integration.

The last stretch before professional integration.

The school is transformed into an animation studio

The technical means implemented for these realisations are colossal.

Hundreds of computers are made available for images calculation.

The manufacturing processes are identical to those used in the profession.

Throughout the year the teams are accompanied step by step and until completion of their film, by the members of the pedagogical team, teachers and speakers.

A large jury gathering professionals meets to gauge the extent of the work carried out.

During this "Diploma Jury" grand-messe, we also organise professional meetings with studio recruiters. Students then have the chance to prepare their entry into working life in a privileged and friendly manner.

It also is a celebration moment for parents and families who discover the students’ creations in an optimal setting.
